On Tuesday 21 March at 12h21, Cinquantenaire 2030 will take part in the worldwide flash mob Third Paradise : Rebirth by Michelangelo Pistoletto. The aim is to celebrate the renewed collaboration between the various institutions of the Cinquantenaire Park, together with the park's neighbours and visitors. During the flash mob, the participants will form the symbol of rebirth. During this public performance, we will have the artistic support of the artists of the Barra-movement, who are currently in residence at Victor Horta's Pavilion of Human Drifts. \
According to Pistoletto, the first paradise was the time when man was one with nature. Then came the time of scientific and technological progress, the second paradise. As the world faces climate change, our paradise is threatened. Pistoletto proposes building a third paradise together – a place where humans, science and technology, and nature coexist in harmony, and can move forward together.
With this performance, artist Michelangelo Pistoletto also wants to reflect on how we as humans can live together and how we can take better care of our nature and planet.
Michelangelo Pistoletto won the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2003 for his oeuvre. In 2004, the University of Turin awarded him a laurea honoris causa in Political Science. In 2010, he wrote the essay The Third Paradise which was published in Italian, English, French, and German.
